Another view of Louisiana Wetlands Loss

20th Century Louisiana Wetlands Loss Superimposed on California

Paul Harrison, EDF’s Coastal Louisiana Project Manager is in town here in SF and liked yesterday’s blog post so much he asked me to make a similar map he could show to Californians.

Just a FYI on how I actually make these maps:
1) The data is downloadable from LA Coast
2) Then in my GIS, I use a tool to literally drag the data and superimpose it over another area. This maintains the true area, scale, and shape of the data so that it remains true without abstraction.
